Attorney Kevin Fontenot grew up in Basile, Louisiana. He graduated Magna
Cum Laude with a bachelor's degree in Political Science and History
from Northwestern State University. He graduated from Paul M. Hebert Law
Center at Louisiana State University. During law school, he was awarded
CALI awards for highest grade in Contracts as well as in Legal Research
and Writing. Attorney Fontenot was admitted to the Louisiana Bar Association
in 2006. He believes that his personal background, growing up in a farming
family in rural Evangeline Parish, allows him to bring a common sense
approach to the practice of law, providing his clients with friendly yet
passionate representation in every case.
Attorney Fontenot's diversified practice has focused mainly on Commercial
and Industrial litigation. He has experience representing individuals,
small businesses, and large industrial and commercial clients in complex
civil litigation. He has successfully represented both plaintiffs and
defendants in a wide variety of cases, including Construction Litigation,
Personal Injury Defense, Contractual Disputes, Product Liability Defense
and Product Warranty and Redhibition matters. He has extensive experience
in the area of Industrial Premise Liability Defense. He also represents
financial institutions as well as commercial businesses in serious collection
matters. Upon joining our firm, Attorney Fontenot began handling probate,
estate planning and real estate matters.
In addition to the Louisiana state courts, he is also admitted to practice
in the United States District Courts in Louisiana. He is a former President
of the Young Lawyers Section of the SWLA Bar Association and a former
member of the Lake Charles Kiwanis Club. He was also a former Adjunct
Professor in Business Law at McNeese State University in Lake Charles,
Louisiana.
He is married to Lynsay Fontenot and they have three children. He enjoys
spending time with his family, including his closely knit extended family,
and cooking traditional Cajun food. He is an avid supporter of his Alumni,
the LSU Tigers, as well as the New Orleans Saints. Attorney Fontenot is
a Parishioner at St. Theodore Catholic Church.
