Attorney Roderick G. Bertrand earned a bachelor's degree in microbiology
as well as a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in vocational
agriculture from Louisiana State University. He taught high school agriculture
and served the administration of the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana before
attending law school. He graduated in the top third of his class from
the South Texas College of Law in Houston, TX. He passed the Louisiana
Bar in 1989 and has more than 20 years' experience. Attorney Bertrand
is a seasoned attorney who handles succession, probate, and Social Security
Disability cases. He also handles litigation involving criminal law, negligence,
contracts and construction, municipal, governmental and disability law.
Attorney Bertrand is active in the community. He serves as the city attorney
and magistrate of Elton, as well as the First Assistance District Attorney
for the 33rd Judicial District Attorney for Allen Parish. Attorney Bertrand is admitted
to practice in Louisiana, Texas, the United States District Court for
the Western District of Louisiana, and the Coushatta Tribal Court. He
is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, the Louisiana District
Attorneys Association, and the Coushatta Tribal Bar Association.
When he is not working, Attorney Bertrand enjoys spending time with his
wife and watching his two children participate in track and field competitions.
